At the Tashkent airport, they attempted to smuggle jewelry worth two billion soums past customs

Employees of the border customs post in Tashkent managed to prevent several attempts to illegally import and export jewelry.
According to the information, the first incident occurred during the inspection of a citizen's luggage on the Tashkent - Almaty flight. Specialists identified yellow metal objects in the form of strips attached to the base inside the suitcase using an X-ray machine. According to the man, he received the cargo from an acquaintance and did not know about the presence of jewelry. The weight of the jewelry was 350 g, and the estimated cost was 549 million soums.
In the second case, law enforcement officers discovered smuggling in a passenger who came from Istanbul and was passing through the "green corridor." During an inspection using a contactless device, specialists found jewelry in his underwear and socks with a total weight of about 710 grams and an estimated value of 833 million soums.
In another case, a Turkish passenger tried to carry jewelry weighing 803 grams and worth 907 million soums in his trouser pocket and sock. The total weight of the seized jewelry was 1,863 grams, and the estimated value was 2.289 billion soums. Law enforcement officers have initiated criminal proceedings in all cases.
