At a time when global cybersecurity threats are steadily increasing, Germany is paying special attention to strengthening its ties in this field with foreign partners. For this purpose, the country’s Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt paid an official visit to Israel and announced new cooperation frameworks between the two states, Bild.de reports.
During meetings in the city of Bat Yam, located near Tel Aviv, Dobrindt presented a new five-point “cyber dome” program prepared by the German side and scheduled for implementation. The main goal of this program is to significantly enhance Germany’s internal and external cyber defense capabilities and especially to further develop the strategic partnership between Germany and Israel.
Within this initiative, Alexander Dobrindt emphasizes that the fight against cyber threats should not be limited only to military means, but must also include effective cooperation between civil defense, rapid warning systems, and domestic intelligence agencies. For this reason, a new cyber research center will be established with the participation of leading experts from both countries.
As Dobrindt stated, “those who want to make a breakthrough in the field of security must not rely solely on military defense but on all elements that strengthen the overall power of the state.” According to him, in today’s global environment, Germany must take into account not only its own security but also that of the European Union and close partner countries.
The main points of the new five-point strategic plan are as follows:
1. Strengthening institutional cooperation between Germany and Israel in the field of cybersecurity;
2. Creating a cyber research center that will operate in constant cooperation;
3. Modernizing civil protection systems and developing rapid alert platforms against threats;
4. Deepening exchange and cooperation between intelligence and law enforcement agencies;
5. Expanding anti-drone defense capabilities within Germany.
It should be noted that this visit and the initiatives indicate that Germany is entering a new phase in its relations with Israel. Alexander Dobrindt became the first high-ranking German official to visit Israel officially after the recent military clashes between Iran and Israel. This visit is being evaluated as a strategic step by the new Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Such agreements are particularly significant in building global security systems. Israel is considered one of the countries with the highest level of cyber technology expertise in the world. Germany, for its part, plans to strengthen its capabilities by benefiting from this experience.
According to analysts, such close cooperation may have a positive effect not only on European security but also on stability in the Middle East. In particular, creating effective defense systems against cyberattacks carried out through drone technology and artificial intelligence, exchanging intelligence data quickly, and responding to threats together may become a major strategic advantage in the future.
The new Germany–Israel cybersecurity partnership is becoming an important step not only for the interests of both countries but also for global security. Currently, all efforts are aimed at finding sustainable responses to attacks carried out through AI, drones, and the internet. From this perspective, the cyber dome program is a means of protecting the future.
