Vehicles become batteries: energy revolution in China
China is piloting V2G (vehicle-to-grid) technology, turning electric vehicles into dynamic components of the power grid, speedme.ru reports. With V2G, EVs not only charge from the grid but can also return electricity to it.

Pilot projects are underway in nine cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. The goal is to stabilize the grid and balance peak energy demands.

The initiative is government-backed, involving the National Development and Reform Commission. EV owners can receive compensation for feeding energy back into the system.

By the end of 2024, China plans to launch 30 such projects, with 50 expected by 2025. V2G is a core part of China's strategy to integrate EVs with energy infrastructure and achieve sustainable energy development.
