Recently, there have been an increasing number of cases where individuals who aim to make money online have been deceiving citizens through various fraudulent methods and embezzling their money. One such case was recorded in the city of Ahangaran, Tashkent region.
During an urgent operation conducted by the Cybersecurity Department of the Tashkent Regional Department of Internal Affairs and the Ahangaran City Department of Internal Affairs, a person was detained who was deceiving citizens on the Telegram social network under the pretext of selling accounts for the popular PUBG mobile game.
Details of this case showed that a 20-year-old resident of Ahangaran city applied to the regional internal affairs department and reported that he had transferred 9 million soums to an unknown person's bank card in order to purchase a PUBG account via Telegram. However, the seller gained his trust and initially allowed him to use the account, but a day later changed the account password and restricted his right to use it.
As a result of urgent and investigative measures, it was revealed that this fraud was committed by a 20-year-old man born in 2005, a resident of Navoi region, and he was detained by law enforcement officers in a procedural manner.
It turned out that this person posted false advertisements on the Telegram network on special channels for the sale of PUBG mobile game accounts, initially allowing citizens to use the accounts temporarily. After that, he changed the secret passwords of the accounts and illegally embezzled the buyers' funds.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated in this case under Article 168, Part 3, Clause "g" of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (fraud, committed in large amounts), and the investigation is ongoing.
In this regard, the internal affairs bodies ask all citizens to be careful when trading online and not to transfer personal information and funds to unauthorized persons.
