Bank fraud uncovered in Samarkand: new law protects...

Samarqandda bank firibgarligi fosh etildi: yangi qonun himoya qiladi...

Security in the digital financial system is becoming increasingly relevant every day. A recent incident in the Samarkand region serves as a serious signal for bank clients and demonstrates the vital importance of new legislative changes.

A case of fraud involving the banking system was identified in the Oqdaryo district of the Samarkand region. According to investigation data, a bank specialist, X.T., gained the trust of citizen J.Sh. by promising to help secure a 17 million som loan. However, in reality, he processed a 50 million som loan in the client's name and secretly withdrew 33 million som in cash.

Most alarmingly, the victim was provided with false information stating that the bank had only allocated 17 million som. As a result of the investigation, the return of the illegally misappropriated funds was ensured. Simultaneously, a criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident under Article 168 of the Criminal Code.

Following this event, another significant update was announced. A new procedure registered by the Ministry of Justice and the Central Bank has strengthened the protection mechanism for bank clients.

According to the new rules, if an online loan is processed in a citizen's name through fraudulent means and they are recognized as a "victim" by the investigation or the court, the bank is required to immediately suspend the collection of debt and interest on that loan.

Furthermore, the damages caused will now be recovered from the guilty party rather than the victim. That is, the bank will recover its losses from the person who committed the fraud through a recourse procedure. If the fraud is not confirmed during the investigation process, the bank may continue to demand payments in the usual manner.

This situation demonstrates that blindly trusting even certain individuals working within the banking system can be dangerous. Therefore, experts advise clients to remain constantly vigilant.

It is important to independently verify funds deposited into bank cards, read loan agreements carefully, and pay attention to every figure. If you encounter a suspicious situation, you can protect yourself from the burden of illegal debt by immediately contacting law enforcement agencies to obtain "victim" status.

In short, this incident in Samarkand serves as both a warning and a lesson. The new legislation acts as an important step in protecting citizens from financial fraud.
