Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed his views on his team's chances of participating in the Champions League next season.
"It is very important to participate in the Champions League in order to get the players we are interested in in the summer transfer market. If we do not play in the Champions League, our situation in the transfer market will be more complicated. Because top-level players, of course, prefer teams that play in the Champions League. This creates difficulties for us," said the Spanish specialist.
Guardiola also stressed that he has not yet held talks with any players about next season.
After the 32nd round of the Premier League, Manchester City is in 5th place in the standings, and with this position, it is unlikely to qualify for the Champions League.
For your information, it was previously reported that five teams from the English Premier League could participate in the Champions League from next season.
What could happen?
- If City loses points in the next rounds, they could be left without the Champions League.
- In this case, the likelihood of some stars approaching a transfer increases.
- Young and high-potential players may be discouraged from choosing a club.
