He later realized that the situation had been difficult for his family.
The defender admitted that his relationship with the manager deteriorated as his minutes on the pitch decreased. He noted that he loved being captain and recalled that the team finished third and won a trophy.
Nevertheless, he acknowledged that the decision was the right one for the manager.
Maguire recently signed a new contract with the club running until June 2027. He is expected to start in the crucial home match against Liverpool on May 3.
