Next stop England? Xavi speaks on Guardiola's future

After a decade of dominance at Manchester City, winning 20 trophies, Pep Guardiola has officially left the club. Although the Catalan tactician has decided to take a temporary break, speculation about his next destination is already mounting. Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez believes his former mentor, who has conquered club football in Spain, Germany, and England, is now ready to transition to the international level. This is reported by Goal.com reports .

During a Q&A event organized by Heineken ahead of the Champions League final, Xavi emphasized that club football no longer poses enough of a challenge for the tactical genius. "He is a genius, nobody knows what is in his brain, but I think he is waiting for a national team. At the club level, he has achieved everything, so the new challenge will be a national team," said Xavi.

England or Spain are seen as the primary options for Guardiola. Xavi noted that the Spain option is somewhat complicated, but the England national team is a real possibility. Since Pep Guardiola has worked with many English stars at Manchester City, he knows the squad better than any other candidate.

Pep Guardiola felt it was time to leave despite having one year left on his contract. Enzo Maresca is expected to take his place. Guardiola plans to work as an ambassador for the City Football Group while taking a long-term break, similar to his departure from Barcelona in 2012.
