
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is on an official visit to Brussels, held a meeting with King Philippe of Belgium at the Lechen Palace on October 24. The meeting was noted as an important event aimed at further deepening the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
During the conversation, ways to develop bilateral cooperation in the trade-economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed. An exchange of views also took place on topical issues of the international and regional agenda.
King Philip highly appreciated the results of the negotiations of the leader of Uzbekistan with the leadership of the European Union in Brussels. He sincerely congratulated Mirziyoyev on the signing of the historic Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the EU.

During the negotiations, it was noted that in recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and Belgium have been developing steadily. Active contacts have been established at the ministerial level, and political consultations are held regularly. Friendship groups also operate in the parliaments of the two countries.
Cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian spheres is also strengthening. In particular, fraternal ties have been established between Tashkent and the cities of Kortrijk, Samarkand and Lej. In addition, the opening of a bronze bust of the great scientist Abu Ali ibn Sina in the city of Kortrijk was noted as a symbol of cultural closeness between the two peoples.
Positive trends are also observed in economic relations. The volume of mutual trade has increased, and Belgian companies are successfully operating in Uzbekistan in the textile, logistics, and service sectors. At the same time, the opening of the Chamber of Commerce of the Benelux countries in Tashkent in 2024 further intensified relations between the business circles of the two countries.
During the meeting, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of establishing visits of representatives of Belgian companies to Uzbekistan and organizing mutual cultural events. It was emphasized that this will bring not only economic, but also cultural relations to a new level.
At the end of the conversation, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited King Philip to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan. The King gratefully accepted this invitation and expressed his readiness to strengthen friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries.
According to analysts, this meeting in Brussels will further enhance Uzbekistan's prestige in Europe. It not only strengthens economic partnership but also opens the way for new projects in the cultural and educational spheres. This is significant because it opens a new page in the strategic dialogue between Central Asia and Europe.
