Gas filling stations located near residential areas will be relocated to safe zones. This decision is part of an action plan to be implemented by March 2026.
According to the information, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional and Tashkent city administrations, together with the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, will inspect the stations and identify those that do not meet established safety standards.
By April 1, 2026, filling stations that pose risks to citizens’ lives and health, violate environmental, fire, and industrial safety standards, or fail to comply with urban development regulations will be relocated to safer areas.
Expenses related to the relocation or demolition of stations will be compensated in accordance with the law. Relocated stations will receive land plots equipped with the necessary infrastructure.
Owners who wish to change the type of activity of their station will be allowed to engage in other lawful business operations on the same territory.
In addition, relocated gas filling stations will be exceptionally granted technical conditions for connection to existing infrastructure networks — such as gas and electricity.
The document also prohibits allocating land within the protection zones of stations for construction of other facilities that contradict urban planning norms.
Experts note that these measures will not only enhance public safety but also help improve the environmental situation in the country.
