Uzbekistan is creating new nature parks

Uzbekistan will establish two new national nature parks in Tashkent region under a presidential resolution adopted on March 25, 2026. The document sets out measures to create the “Ovjassoy – Blue Mountains”, “Pskom” and “Fergana” national nature parks, while also expanding the territory of “Pop” National Nature Park in Namangan region.
According to the resolution, the new “Ovjassoy – Blue Mountains” National Nature Park will be created on 9,200 hectares in the “Ovjassoy” section of the Akhangaran State Forestry in Akhangaran district. A much larger protected area, “Pskom” National Nature Park, will be established in Bostanliq district on 156,700 hectares belonging to the Burchmulla State Forestry.
The government also plans to form “Fergana” National Nature Park in Fergana region. The new park will cover a total of 22,900 hectares, combining 13,900 hectares of state reserve land in the Uzbekistan and Sokh districts with another 8,900 hectares from the Fergana and Kokand state forestry enterprises.
At the same time, the territory of “Pop” National Nature Park in Namangan region will be significantly enlarged. The expansion will include 33,600 hectares of state reserve land in the Mingbuloq and Pop foothill areas, as well as 91,200 hectares from the Pop specialized state forestry. As a result, the park’s total area will reach 125,300 hectares.
The measures are aimed at strengthening the protection of natural landscapes, preserving biodiversity and creating better conditions for the development of ecotourism. By increasing the size and number of protected areas, the authorities expect to improve conservation efforts in several regions of the country while opening up new opportunities for sustainable tourism.
