Koreans who survived the Hiroshima bombing
On August 6, 1945, when the US dropped an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima, among the victims were thousands of Koreans. These individuals were labor migrants forcibly brought from Korea during the Japanese occupation. Those who survived are now elderly but still await justice and recognition.

Koreans made up 10% of the 140,000 people killed in Hiroshima. Today, 43 survivors live in South Korea. For years, they have received neither full medical support nor official acknowledgment.

"I remember this pain every day," says 94-year-old Chve Il Son. He was 14 years old when he experienced the bombing in Hiroshima. According to him, many people were burned, perished, or later fell ill due to the blast.

In some Japanese records, the names of Korean victims were not even recorded. These individuals were not recognized as victims of nuclear war.

Today, civil organizations operating in South Korea are calling for attention to these victims and demanding justice. These groups, advocating for a nuclear weapons ban, are trying to amplify the voices of Korean victims to the world.
