The Russian Ministry of Education has opposed a proposal to make schooling for children of foreign labor migrants paid. This was stated by Aleksandr Reut, head of the Department of State Policy in General Education and Preschool Development.
According to him, under the Russian Constitution, every person living in the country, including foreigners, has the right to education. This right is universal and applies equally to all.
For reference, Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Social Policy, had proposed a bill to ban free education for migrant children. However, the Ministry of Education did not support the initiative.
