Due to symptoms similar to plague in Mongolia's Khovd province, temporary local restrictive measures have been introduced in the area. TASS news agency reported this, citing information from the local administration.
According to official data, cases with symptoms characteristic of plague were recorded in the village of Bulgan in the region. Following this incident, the local authorities decided to temporarily suspend public events in the area, reinstate the educational process in schools remotely, and carry out all necessary preventive and disinfection measures.
It was reported that restrictions were imposed on the free movement of citizens in the Khovd region, the entry and exit of vehicles were controlled, and the activities of some retail outlets and catering establishments were temporarily suspended. Local medical institutions are monitoring those who have been in contact with infected individuals.
Earlier, a similar situation was observed in the Khubsugul region of Mongolia, where strict restrictions were introduced due to the risk of the spread of the plague. In this area, the movement of the population, transportation, and the operation of markets and catering establishments are temporarily restricted.
According to the health service, as of September 12, 2025, 110 citizens who had close contact with 3 patients with plague remain under medical supervision. They are registered separately, and medical observation measures are being taken for each of them.
According to additional data, as of August 2025, plague outbreaks were detected in 130 settlements in 17 regions of Mongolia. Between 2014 and 2024, a total of 20 people contracted the disease in the country, 9 of whom died.
