Hello, dear readers of our site! The situation in the Middle East is becoming critical again. International publications and military sources report that a direct military clash has occurred between the US and Iran. Zamin.uz is closely monitoring these alarming developments and will provide the latest information.
Military Operation: Iranian Ports and Bases Targeted
Fox News and Axios report, citing American officials, that US military forces conducted airstrikes on Iran's strategic port facilities on Qeshm Island and sites in Bandar Abbas. Iran's Fars agency confirmed that the Bahman commercial port in Qeshm suffered significant damage as a result of this attack.
At the same time, Washington officials are urging against interpreting this operation as the start or renewal of a large-scale war between the two countries. They believe this is a limited military response operation.
CENTCOM Statement: "We Defended Ourselves"
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) called these actions "defensive strikes." It is reported that three US Navy ships were attacked by Iranian missiles and drones while transiting the Strait of Hormuz toward the Gulf of Oman. It is also reported that Iranian speedboats fired on American military personnel.
In response, the US military announced that it had targeted and neutralized the points responsible for the attack, including:
Missile and drone launch sites;
Command and control centers;
Intelligence and surveillance points.
Tehran's Response: "Retaliation for Aggression"
Iran's Tasnim agency interprets the events differently. According to reports, the Iranian fleet attacked American ships, but this is described as a retaliatory operation following US aggression against an Iranian oil tanker.
Are Peace Talks at Risk?
Most interestingly, these military clashes occurred at a time when negotiations to end the war between the two countries were at a critical stage. A day earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that the dialogue between Washington and Tehran was going "very well."
Despite the ceasefire agreement reached in April and its unilateral extension by Trump, both sides have repeatedly violated the ceasefire regime. Nevertheless, the US administration claims that the overall peace process remains intact for now.
Dear readers of our site, do you think such military clashes will put an end to peace talks, or will the parties return to the negotiating table? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
