Construction has begun on high-security secret underground vaults for the world's wealthiest people inside the Brünig mountain massif in central Switzerland. According to Germany's Bild the special rooms, being built more than 100 meters below ground, are intended to store gold reserves, large amounts of cash, rare works of art and luxury cars.
“Protection from any disaster”: The project's concept and level of security
According to the project developers, the bunkers are being built deep inside the mountain to protect billionaires' assets 100 percent from global catastrophes, nuclear or military attacks and various man-made disasters. Behind this ambitious idea is Brünig Mega Safe a company owned by entrepreneur Thomas Gasser.
Construction officially began in January 2026. The first major stage in the high-security zone has now been completed, and a special portal leading to the storage facilities is under construction.

Swiss bank-level screening and restrictions
In an interview with Swiss broadcaster RTS, Thomas Gasser praised the security system:
"The level of security here must fully comply with the strictest standards used in the vaults of the Swiss National Bank. Access to the underground complex is controlled through several stages — a person must first pass through a special airlock and undergo multiple biometric and technical checks,", — he said Thomas Gasser.
According to reports, almost any valuable items and collections can be stored in the vaults without restrictions. However, bringing in explosives and narcotics prohibited by law is strictly forbidden.
