Can children drink tea?

Tea is a daily beverage in many families. However, for young children, there are both benefits and aspects to be cautious about.
According to experts, it is not recommended to give regular black or green tea to children under 2–3 years old. The main reason for this is the caffeine and tannin content in tea.
Caffeine can stimulate a child's nervous system, potentially causing insomnia, restlessness, and an increased heart rate. Tannin reduces the absorption of iron in the body, which increases the risk of anemia in children.
If a child really wants it, after the age of 3, you can give a very light, weak, and unsweetened tea in small amounts. However, this should be done occasionally, not frequently.

Experts recommend water, natural fruit compotes, and light herbal infusions as the best drinks for children.
Although tea is a common drink for adults, it should be given to children with caution and in moderation. The safest way is to choose natural drinks over tea at a young age.
