Man in Surkhandarya sentenced to 15 years for stabbing neighbor

A simple domestic disagreement in the Surkhandarya region ended in a serious crime. A man who attacked his neighbor with a knife during a dispute over the construction of a water well has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. This was reported by the "Millar" news program.

According to investigation materials, the incident occurred on October 3, 2025, at around 09:20. A man born in 1989 got into an argument with a female neighbor in their apartment building regarding the construction of a water well.

It is reported that as the conflict escalated, the man went into his house and returned with a kitchen knife. With the intent to kill, he stabbed the woman twice in the chest from behind. Due to the force of the blow, the blade of the knife broke off inside the victim's body.

Despite this, the suspect chased the woman as she tried to flee the scene, knocked her to the ground, and struck her in the face.

The tragedy was prevented from escalating further by workers who were digging a well in the area at the time. They intervened in the fight and stopped the man, preventing him from completing his criminal act.

According to the forensic medical examination, the victim sustained severe, life-threatening injuries.

The criminal case was heard in the Kizirik district court. The court found the defendant guilty of attempted premeditated murder with extreme cruelty, as provided for under Article 97, Part 2, Clause "j" via Article 25 of the Criminal Code.

In accordance with the court's verdict, the man was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment. This incident once again demonstrates the severe legal consequences of attempting to resolve simple domestic disputes through violence.
