Gemini now uses personal context

Google has started rolling out its Personal Intelligence feature to free users of Gemini, Chrome and the company’s new AI Mode. The tool was previously limited to paid Google AI plans, but it is now being introduced more broadly, beginning in the United States. Reports 3dnews.ru.
The update lets Google’s AI draw on a user’s own data to give more tailored answers without requiring long, detailed prompts. According to the company, the system can use information from Google Workspace services such as Gmail, Calendar and Drive, as well as Google Photos, YouTube, Maps and Search. It analyzes text, images and video to better understand a person’s habits and preferences.
Google says the feature can help in practical situations. For example, a user who cannot remember the exact name of a purchased device could describe the problem, and the AI may identify the product from receipts and suggest troubleshooting steps. During travel, it could help with transfers, suggest places to eat based on personal tastes and estimate the time left before boarding.
The company also says users may receive more personalized travel plans instead of generic recommendation lists, with ideas based on past interests. The feature will require a personal Google account and must be turned on manually. Users will also be able to block access to selected apps through a new Personal Intelligence section in account settings.
