2025 — a historic opportunity for Samarkand
One of the main topics of the meeting was the recognition of Samarkand as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2025. This status will provide the city with great prestige and further strengthen its position on the international stage.
It is worth noting that this initiative serves to further highlight Uzbekistan’s role in Islamic civilization, widely promote national heritage, and increase tourism potential.
According to the document, a number of international conferences, cultural events, and scientific forums are planned to be held in Samarkand in the near future. In this way, the city will be represented not only as historical, but also as a modern center of enlightenment.
Uzbekistan’s relations with ICESCO go beyond official visits and are moving into a serious phase of practical cooperation. The declaration of Samarkand as the cultural capital may be a key turning point in this process. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
