Uzbekistan enters the top three in Central Asia for prosperity

Britain’s The Legatum Institute think tank has published the global Prosperity Index 2026 rankings. Uzbekistan ranked 94th among 161 countries.
According to the ranking results, Uzbekistan placed third among Central Asian countries. Kazakhstan ranked first in the region in 66th place, followed by Kyrgyzstan in 87th.
Tajikistan ranked 129th. Turkmenistan was not included in the list.
Switzerland took first place in the global ranking. For comparison, Kazakhstan ranked 66th, Kyrgyzstan 87th, Uzbekistan 94th, Russia 103rd, and Tajikistan 129th.
Eritrea ranks at the bottom of the list, taking 161st place.
The Prosperity Index assesses countries across several areas, including the economy, business environment, education, healthcare, and level of security.
