Uzbekistan signs historic €10 billion agreement with Europe
At the European Council headquarters in Brussels, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The meeting focused on further developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union.

Within the framework of implementing the agreements reached at the first “Central Asia–European Union” summit held in Samarkand this April, the sides discussed new opportunities for cooperation. The “Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation” agreement signed at the meeting was noted as historically significant.

The agreement will make a significant contribution to cooperation in trade, investment, transport, energy, climate, high technologies, and cultural-humanitarian relations. The sides also welcomed the conclusion of bilateral negotiations with the EU on Uzbekistan’s World Trade Organization membership.

During the meeting, the sides agreed to implement new projects in energy, chemistry, strategic minerals, logistics, textiles, and pharmaceuticals with a total value of over €10 billion (≈$11 billion).
