The deal was first announced in June of this year. Under the agreement, Vibe.co has now been fully integrated into Walmart Connect, the retail giant’s connected TV advertising network. The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Walmart allocated $1.4 billion for the acquisition.
Streaming Advertising and Capabilities
Vibe.co’s key feature is that it enables small and medium-sized businesses to independently launch streaming TV campaigns across various publishers. By integrating this technology with Walmart Connect, the retailer is significantly expanding its advertising business and gaining new ways to reach customers.Ryan Mayward, CEO and senior vice president of Walmart Connect, said that Vibe.co had built an outstanding platform that makes streaming TV advertising simple and accessible for companies of all sizes. Building on this foundation, the companies plan to give advertisers more convenient ways to connect with customers.
A History of Strategic Moves
This deal is not Walmart’s only major acquisition in recent years. To strengthen its advertising business, the company acquired TV manufacturer Vizio for $2.3 billion in 2024. These consistent moves show how seriously Walmart is focusing on technology solutions in the competition for digital markets and consumer attention. The new acquisition is expected to further strengthen the link between customers’ purchasing journeys and streaming content, making it easier to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.
