In Uzbekistan, the procedure for paying for overtime work has been revised. The new Law (No. ZRU–1095, dated November 11, 2025), signed by the President, is aimed at improving labor relations and strengthening workers’ rights, Norma.uz reported.
According to the document, new opportunities have been granted to private employment agencies — they can now organize vocational and foreign language training courses, cooperate with foreign employers, and independently manage interest income earned from placing reserve funds in commercial bank deposits.
One of the most significant changes is the abolition of the restriction on overtime work. Previously, the Labor Code stipulated that the duration of such work should not exceed 120 hours per year. Now, these hours are no longer limited and will be determined by mutual agreement between the employer and the employee.
According to the law, payment for overtime work is set as follows:
— for the first two hours — at least 1.5 times the regular pay;
— for more than two hours — at least 2 times the regular pay.
Experts note that these amendments aim to increase transparency in labor relations, protect workers’ rights, and enhance the efficiency of the private employment system.
