With the start of the carpet washing season in courtyards and streets in Uzbekistan, various reports are circulating on social media. According to them, citizens in some areas are being fined heavily for using drinking water inappropriately to wash carpets.
Reports mention that fines have reached up to 3.7 million soums in some cases. It is also noted that fines ranging from 1 to 3 base calculation units (BCU) may be applied for the inappropriate use of water resources.
Experts emphasize that in such cases, the specific decision is determined based on the circumstances of each situation, and not all circulated information has official confirmation. Therefore, citizens are advised to use water wisely.
