Kyrgyzstan returns 21 tons of watermelons imported from Uzbekistan

On May 28, during phytosanitary control conducted by inspectors of the Department of Chemicalization, Protection and Quarantine of Plants at the "Dostuk" border post, 21 tons of watermelons imported from Uzbekistan were inspected. This was reported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the ministry, it was found that the packaging of these quarantined products lacked mandatory labeling. This was assessed as a violation of the quarantine phytosanitary requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

As a result, the cargo was denied entry into Kyrgyzstan and was returned to Uzbekistan in accordance with current legal requirements.

“The Department of Chemicalization, Protection and Quarantine of Plants regularly carries out control measures to ensure the country's phytosanitary safety, protect the domestic market, and prevent the entry of harmful quarantine objects,” the official statement said.
