Shavkat Mirziyoyev departs for Switzerland to attend ceremony

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, departed for Switzerland on a working visit on January 21 to attend the ceremony in Davos to sign the Peace Council charter. Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan had accepted an offer to join the body as a founding state.
According to reports, the initiative’s core idea is to bring together on a single platform countries ready to ensure long-term peace, stability, and security in Gaza and to form a new international structure.
Sources say the Peace Council charter-signing ceremony is expected to take place in Davos, and it is also noted that a number of countries have already agreed to join.
It is reported that in a letter to Trump, Mirziyoyev emphasized that the initiative is seen as an important step toward finding solutions to decades-long conflicts in the Middle East and strengthening peace and stability across the wider region.
Now the most interesting part is the outcome. If the new structure does not remain on paper and turns into real mechanisms, it could become an opportunity for Uzbekistan to strengthen its international influence and diplomatic engagement. If it doesn’t, there is also a risk it will all remain PR. In either scenario, the Davos meetings are bound to set the tone for much in the coming months.
