Most foreigners chose Tashkent for permanent residence

According to the State Statistics Committee, a total of 1,159 individuals relocated from foreign countries to Uzbekistan for permanent residence last year.

The majority of these new residents arrived from Russia, accounting for 39.9 percent of the total number. Kazakhstan followed with 20.3 percent, while Tajikistan contributed 10.3 percent. Additionally, 4.3 percent of the immigrants came from Kyrgyzstan and 3.1 percent from Turkmenistan. The remaining 22.1 percent relocated from various other nations.

When looking at the regional distribution, the capital city was the most popular destination. Tashkent city welcomed 698 new permanent residents. The surrounding Tashkent region received 275 individuals, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan recorded 101 new arrivals.

The numbers were significantly lower in other parts of the country. Syrdarya region registered 24 new residents, Fergana region had 14, while Jizzakh and Navoi regions each received 12 people. Furthermore, Bukhara region welcomed 11 individuals, Khorezm region had 7, Kashkadarya and Samarkand regions each recorded 2, and Namangan region saw only a single new permanent resident.
