The rate of Uzbek citizens moving abroad for permanent residence is declining. According to official data, the number of our citizens who left for other countries to live permanently during the first three months of 2026 reached 2,277 people. A positive and encouraging aspect is that this figure is 4.1 percent lower compared to the same period last year. This indicates that, thanks to the reforms being implemented in our country, our compatriots see their future on local soil.
According to the latest reports provided by the National Statistics Agency, the largest portion of our compatriots who left our homeland mainly went to two neighboring and close countries — Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. account for the majority.
Most popular destinations: Who is going where?
An analysis of statistical figures provides a clear picture of the geographical distribution of those who have moved:
Kazakhstan: A significant portion of our compatriots who decided to emigrate, specifically 80.6 percent, have found a home in this close neighbor.
Russia: The next largest share belongs to the RF, accounting for 16.4 percent of those who moved.
South Korea and Kyrgyzstan: These countries are on the list with 0.8 percent and 0.7 percent respectively.
The remaining smaller 1.5 percent share is distributed among various other developed countries of the world.
Regional breakdown: Which regions are leading?
Looking at the internal regional breakdown, the situation regarding temporary or permanent departure abroad varies across different regions. The highest figure in this regard was observed in the calm and tolerant region of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, where 727 citizens moved abroad.
Also, the following regions are in the top three:
Tashkent region — 637 citizens;
Navoi region — 511 citizens.
Most loyal regions
The most interesting and heart-warming situation was recorded in the southern regions of our country. As a high example of loyalty and love for the land where they were born, the lowest emigration rates were observed here. Specifically, from beautiful Kashkadarya region only 5 people, and from sunny and hospitable Surkhandarya region only 3 citizens left for permanent residence abroad.
These figures are clear proof that the quality of life and prosperity are constantly rising in every corner of our country.
