Zelensky: "We hope the war will end this year"

A Norwegian journalist asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about his future plans for the country and its people at a joint press conference with European Union leaders in Kyiv.

To the journalist's question, "What are the plans for Ukraine and its people after three years of a large-scale war?" Zelensky replied:

"We hope that we will be able to end this war not in three years, but this year."

According to the president, Ukraine now needs security guarantees to prevent Russian attacks. In his opinion, the country's accession to the European Union and NATO could be an important step in this direction.

At the press conference, Zelensky was also asked about his relations with US President Donald Trump.

"We hope that the US will continue to provide assistance, like all partners," the Ukrainian leader said.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining unity between Europe and America: "We must not lose unity between Europe and the US."
