Protests flare up again in Tel Aviv: Are the Israeli people tired of war?
"How much blood will be shed?" - thousands of Israelis demand the government stop the war in Gaza

On Monday, April 7, the center of Tel Aviv was again plunged into political turmoil - thousands of protesters took to the streets. They demanded that the government reach an agreement with the Hamas movement and release Israelis held hostage in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.

Against the war: fear in the hearts, hope in the minds

Most of the protesters expressed their strong opposition to continuing the war. The placards they held read:
- "How much blood will be shed?"
- "Stop the war,"
- "We want peace."

The majority of the protesters, including families, relatives and supporters of the hostages, called on US President Donald Trump to mediate in ending the war. They made the appeal during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington.

Is trust in the government fading?

The protesters' protests were not limited to the war. They also opposed the decision to dismiss Ronen Bar, head of the Israeli Security Service (Shi'bak). The service is currently investigating Netanyahu's close associates and illegal ties with Qatar. Therefore, the Supreme Court (BAGAT) temporarily banned Bar's dismissal - the court hearing is scheduled for April 8.

The situation in Gaza is getting tense again

The Israeli government resumed airstrikes on Gaza on March 18. On March 19, the armed ground operation was resumed. According to official explanations, the main goal of such pressure is to free the hostages.

But the people are tired of this solution. They need peace. They need either tough decisions or real diplomacy. That is why the protests on the streets of Tel Aviv are not stopping - the people are making their voices heard.

Question for Zamin.uz fans:
Do you think the government is taking the right path to free the hostages? Is there a possibility of an agreement with Hamas?
