Saudi Arabia and Iraq halt oil supplies to India

Saudi Arabia's Saudi Aramco and Iraq's state-owned SOMO Corporation have restricted oil supplies to India's largest company, Nayara Energy. It is noted that this decision was made following the sanctions imposed by the European Union due to cooperation with Russia.

According to reports, Nayara Energy - the majority of shares belonging to the Russian company Rosneft - imported approximately 3 million barrels of Saudi and Iraqi oil monthly. However, in August, the situation changed dramatically: only oil from Russia was supplied to the company. Due to the fact that other countries stopped supply, the work was limited only to Moscow.

As a result, the oil refinery located in the city of Vadinah was forced to reduce its operations by 70-80 percent. This affected not only the volume of production, but also the shortage of products in the domestic and foreign markets.

It is noted that the company has now switched to using the service of "black fleet" - clandestine tankers - to overcome sales difficulties and transportation problems. Although such a scheme is not officially prohibited by law, it raises issues of transparency and security in the international market.

At the same time, the US strongly criticizes India's purchase of oil from Russia. In August, President Donald Trump accused New Delhi of not restricting its relations with Moscow and, in response, imposed an additional 25% tariff on Indian products.

This duty was mainly applied to such products as clothing, precious stones, furniture, and footwear. Experts note that this decision will negatively affect trade relations between the two countries.
