Caterham Project V electric car demonstrated at test track

Caterham has released a video showing its new Project V electric car in motion. The footage captures the prototype performing various maneuvers at a test track, including high-speed braking and acceleration. The first running prototype of this coupe was showcased at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January. This is reported by Autocar.co.uk .
The company had provided little information about the project's development since announcing in October 2024 that it would use an electric motor supplied by Yamaha. In December 2025, the British brand announced it was evaluating the electric car's motor, battery efficiency, and chassis durability. CEO Kazuho Takahashi noted that this stage allows for the completion of a comprehensive vehicle testing program.
Project V was first unveiled as a concept at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The new video shows the prototype is very similar to the concept from three years ago. Key changes include replacing the rectangular taillights with four round lights in the style of the Ferrari F355 and the installation of a Momo steering wheel.
In terms of technical specifications, the Project V produces 268 hp and, with a weight of 1430 kg, reaches 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds. Initial plans aimed for a vehicle weight of 1190 kg and an acceleration time of less than 4.5 seconds.
