Fenerbahçe’s new president, Sadettin Saran, spoke openly about the work of former head coach José Mourinho. According to him, the Portuguese coach left the club in a difficult state.
“I don’t want to talk much about the past, but I regret that the summer preparations went so poorly. In Portugal, the team trained only once a day — that fact alone says enough,” Saran said in an interview with journalists.
According to the president, when new players joined the squad, Mourinho was still in charge, but he left the club five weeks later. “His departure completely disrupted our pre-season preparations. The effects are still visible,” he added.
Saran also mentioned that the club’s atmosphere died out after Mourinho’s exit. “At that time, life in Fenerbahçe felt dead — and I’m putting it mildly. When I came to the headquarters, I saw it with my own eyes,” he said.
The president’s remarks sparked wide debate among fans. Some supported his view, while others noted that Mourinho’s short stint still had an impact on the team.
According to Saran, Fenerbahçe is now entering a new phase. The team is rebuilding its morale and preparing seriously for the upcoming season. “It’s time for change — Fenerbahçe will come back to life,” he stated confidently.
