Uzbekistan’s national team will begin a training camp in Tashkent on March 22 as preparations continue for the upcoming FIFA Series matches. Head coach Fabio Cannavaro had already announced his squad for the tournament, but the team will now have to cope with several injury-related absences.
The Football Association confirmed that eight players from the extended squad will miss the camp because of injuries. The unavailable group includes Jaloliddin Masharipov, Husniddin Aliqulov, Abbosbek Fayzullaev, Dilshod Komilov, Ibrohimkhalil Yuldoshev, Abdulla Abdullaev, Alibek Davronov and Husayn Norchaev.
Uzbekistan are scheduled to play Gabon on March 27 and Venezuela on March 30 as part of the FIFA Series. Both matches will be held at “Bunyodkor” Stadium in Tashkent, with kick-off set for 19:00. The camp will give the coaching staff a chance to assess replacement options and finalize preparations ahead of the two home fixtures.
