Inter Milan eye surprise transfer for Liverpool star

Italian club Inter Milan has opened negotiations to sign Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones during the summer transfer window. The English player is delaying his contract extension with Liverpool and is seeking a team where he can secure regular playing time to cement his place in the national team. Inter, winners of Serie A and the Coppa Italia, intend to sign the talented player in the opening weeks of the transfer window. This is reported by Goal.com .
According to renowned insider Gianluca Di Marzio, representatives from Inter and Liverpool have held advanced talks regarding Curtis Jones. Sporting directors Piero Ausilio and Richard Hughes met in Monte Carlo to discuss the future of the 25-year-old. While the Italian champions are looking to strengthen their squad, Liverpool has begun a rebuilding process following a trophy-less season.
Jones's current contract with Liverpool expires next summer. The player, who earns £50,000 per week, has rejected the club's offer to explore new challenges. Last season, he made 49 appearances across all competitions. However, he now wants to transition from a squad player to a permanent starter.
Having missed out on the England squad for the 2026 World Cup, the player aims to play regularly to make the roster for Euro 2028. A move to Italy could be a new chapter in his career. If the deal goes through, it will mark the end of the Liverpool academy graduate's successful time on Merseyside.
Curtis Jones has made 228 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 22 goals and providing 25 assists. He has won eight major trophies, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League. Both parties are currently working to finalize the transfer as quickly as possible.
