It seems people have grown completely tired of identical dating apps — but some have decided to bring ease and joy back to romance. In the US, a service has been launched that connects users based on their love for dogs. And the idea appears to be working: early reviews show that communication here really feels easier and more pleasant, writes The Washington Post.
Thirty-three-year-old Lauren Haynes says she has tried almost every popular app, but always ran into the same problems — empty conversations, strange messages, and the feeling that there might be an AI, not a real human, on the other side of the screen. After hearing about a platform for dog owners, Lauren decided to give it a try.
The idea of the app belongs to Charlotte entrepreneur Cindy Himmel. The inspiration came from a conversation with her daughter, who gave up on a new potential relationship after hearing the phrase “he doesn’t really like dogs.” That made Cindy think about how love for pets can truly be a universal factor that brings people together.
According to Himmel, dog owners often turn out to share surprisingly similar values: “Qualities of dog owners — reliability, honesty, responsibility — are the same things we look for in a partner.” Lauren agrees: for her, a love for animals is a real “green flag.” And knowing that dogs matter to everyone on the platform makes starting conversations easier and more natural.
