Il-114-300 aircraft tested in Arctic conditions

Russia's new Il-114-300 regional turboprop aircraft has successfully completed the next stage of certification tests in the Arctic zone. Test flights were conducted at airfields in the Novaya Zemlya and Franz Josef Land archipelagos to verify the aircraft's performance in low temperatures and complex navigation conditions. This is reported by Ixbt.com .
During the flights, along with the aircraft's general flight characteristics, the efficiency of the BINS-2015 inertial navigation system developed by KRET was evaluated. Experts noted that the aircraft demonstrated high reliability in regions up to the 80th parallel, near the North Pole.
According to Daniil Brenerman, Managing Director of Il, these tests confirmed that the Il-114-300 is fully suitable for operation in Arctic regions. In the future, this airliner is expected to replace aging An-24 and An-26 aircraft, as well as foreign models like the ATR-72 and Bombardier Dash 8.
The test program will continue this year: checks are planned for high-temperature conditions in the summer and on unpaved runways in the autumn. The Il-114-300 is designed to carry up to 68 passengers and was specifically developed for use on regional airlines.
