Cloud infrastructure has long been shaped by human actions like searching, clicking, and scrolling. However, the emergence of AI agents is changing this order. AI agents can send queries to hundreds of databases in seconds and stop activity unexpectedly. Therefore, Amazon has begun adapting its cloud infrastructure for the agent era, as reported by Techcrunch.com reports .
On Thursday, AWS launched a new generation of its OpenSearch Serverless system. This is a fully managed search and vector database designed specifically for agentic workloads. According to AWS, the new system scales instantly when agents begin tasks and scales resources to zero when they are idle. This allows enterprises to avoid paying for unused capacity.
According to Cloudflare analysis, bots accounted for 31% of total HTTP traffic over the last six months. Experts estimate that by the first half of 2027, machine traffic on the internet will exceed human traffic. At its I/O conference, Google announced that users will now delegate tasks such as researching purchases or booking trips to AI systems.
AWS representative Tia White noted that agents are moving from the experimental phase to production, creating traffic patterns that previous infrastructure could not handle. The main technical change in the new generation of OpenSearch is the decoupling of compute from storage. This ensures the system scales in seconds when agent activity increases.
