Uzbekistan is enforcing tougher measures to fight cybercrime, reports UPL.uz. On April 30, 2025, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree increasing responsibility for digital violations.
Anyone whose SIM card, e-wallet, bank card, or account is used for cyber fraud may face legal consequences — including fines or jail.
Banks and payment services must ensure client safety. If fraud occurs due to negligence, they must compensate losses.
A national anti-fraud system and unified transaction platform will launch by September 1, 2025. The Interior Ministry and Central Bank will monitor and combat digital crime more aggressively.
