A solemn ceremony was held at the International Congress Center in Samarkand as part of the conclusion of high-level Uzbek-Italian talks, during which one of the city’s streets was named after the capital of Italy — Rome, UPL.uz reported.
This decision highlights the strengthening cultural and strategic ties between Uzbekistan and Italy. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, commenting on the event, stated that naming the street after Rome reflects the deep historical and cultural connections between the two nations.
Moreover, this naming signifies the current high level of strategic partnership. Assigning the name “Rome” to a Samarkand street is seen as a symbol of friendship and mutual respect between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Italy.
Samarkand, long a crossroads of civilizations and a key stop on the Silk Road, is now more closely connected with Rome, the emblem of Western civilization. It is expected that this naming will serve as a new bridge of understanding and cooperation.
The ceremony was a vivid demonstration of the growing mutual interest and ambition to expand ties between the two countries. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
