Uzbekistan plans to levy taxes on artists for every wedding

A draft law "On Simplifying the System of Taxation and Accounting of Persons Carrying Out Concert and Entertainment Activities" has been published on the portal for discussion of draft regulatory legal acts.
According to it, it is planned to collect taxes from artists for every wedding and other performances.
It is noted that from September 1, 2026, all services related to the creative activities of performers and creative teams will be required to be registered in the "Soliq" mobile application of the tax authorities.
Also, from September 1, 2026, to January 1, 2029, personal income tax will be levied on the basis of the principle "one service - one payment," in differentiated fixed amounts.
According to the draft, from January 1, 2029, performers and creative teams carrying out concert and entertainment activities on the basis of a license will work exclusively for non-cash payments.
This will serve to simplify the official accounting and taxation of artists' income and strengthen the legal control over funds received from weddings and other events.
