Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his view on the military situation in the Kursk region and acknowledged that the activities of the Ukrainian military in the region have not yet been completely stopped. He said that although Ukrainian troops have been withdrawn from the main areas, some scattered groups are still hiding in forests and basements.
"We are currently going through a difficult period, and this process has not yet been fully completed," Putin said. "Yes, our troops managed to push the enemy out of most of the Kursk region, but they are still there, hiding in basements and forests, in scattered groups. We hear their calls for evacuation, but it is impossible to do so, because there are scattered groups of two or three people operating there," the Russian leader added.
Earlier, Russian officials announced the "complete defeat" of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukrainian troops had been evacuated from the last settlements.
However, the Ukrainian side denies these statements. Kiev insists that the claims of Russian officials are untrue, and that the operations of the Ukrainian defense forces in designated areas in the Kursk region are still ongoing.
According to a map of the Ukrainian military situation monitoring project DeepState, Ukrainian armed forces still control a small part of the territory near the Russian-Ukrainian border.
The situation in the Kursk region is currently tense, and conflicting statements from the sides make it difficult to determine the true picture of the situation. At the same time, the imminent end of hostilities in this region is still in question. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
