The results of the latest social survey conducted among the population of Ukraine aroused great interest. According to data released by the Ukrainian Sociological Center "Rating Group" on Sunday, August 31, more than half of Ukrainians - or more precisely, 59% - expressed support for ending the war with Russia and compromising with Moscow's leadership.
The survey revealed that a portion of the public still maintains a more extreme position. In particular, 20% of respondents support the continuation of hostilities until the return of the occupied Donbas and annexed Crimea to Ukraine in 2014.
At the same time, 13% of respondents preferred the option of establishing a demarcation line or a new border as of February 23, 2022. This, at the same time, shows the diversity of opinions within society about achieving peace through various means.
As for negotiations, the figures are even more accurate. 82% of respondents assessed negotiations with Russia as the real way to end the war. 62% of them advocate for a compromise with the participation of third countries, while the remaining 20% believe that a direct dialogue between Kyiv and Moscow should be held.
Experts note that these figures indicate that a large part of Ukrainian society is tired of the war and is ready for new political formats in the name of peace. At the same time, sharp views on the territorial issue still persist.
It is recognized that the desire for reconciliation of the people, tired of hardships and losses, can play a decisive role in the future of the country. Therefore, experts emphasize that the issue of peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia remains on the agenda as one of the most pressing topics in world politics.
