
Pilgrims were burned in a car accident in Medina. At least 42 people were reported dead as a result of a bus carrying Umrah pilgrims colliding with a diesel tanker near Medina, Saudi Arabia, as reported by "Hindustan Times."
According to reports, at least 16 citizens from Hyderabad, India, were among the deceased. Due to the complete burning of the passenger bus, the identification of the deceased is still ongoing. According to officials, this process is proving difficult because the accident was very serious.
According to preliminary information, the traffic accident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. local time in the area of the city of Mufrihat, located 160 km from Medina. It is estimated that there were 43 passengers on the bus, and so far only one person has survived.
Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. According to him, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate in Jeddah are providing all necessary assistance to the victims and their relatives.
Following the tragedy, the Indian Embassy in Jeddah launched a special hotline for the families of the victims. Hyderabad deputy Asaduddin Ovaysi also contacted the embassy and asked to expedite the identification of the deceased and the return of the bodies to the country.
In his address, he emphasized: "I ask that anyone who has survived be provided with immediate medical assistance, and the deceased be successfully transported to their homeland."
