Israel and HAMAS may resume fighting in Gaza

Israel and the HAMAS movement are preparing to resume military actions in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing officials from Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
It is reported that HAMAS refuses to disarm despite the agreement reached under U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan. Therefore, the Israeli army has developed a plan for a new ground operation in the coastal area where Palestinians live.
HAMAS is restoring its military capacity lost during the war, including repairing damaged tunnel infrastructure and resuming regular payments to its members. It is also noted that after a new commander is elected, HAMAS may change its position on disarmament.
The war in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, with an attack by HAMAS. In Israel’s response, more than 71,000 Palestinians were killed, most of them civilians. The ceasefire signed on October 10, 2025, allowed hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to return to the destroyed Gaza cities, but since then, at least 400 people have died in Israeli strikes, including three Israeli soldiers.
