A critical security situation has emerged in Russia's southern regions. On May 8, flights at several airports in the south of the country were temporarily suspended following a drone crash near an air navigation service facility in Rostov-on-Don. This was reported by Meduza.

According to preliminary reports, the incident near the administrative building of the "Southern Russia Air Navigation Company" led to a sharp increase in security measures. As a result, operations at 13 major airports were simultaneously restricted.

Flights have been suspended at airports in the following cities:

Sochi, Volgograd, Krasnodar, Grozny, Astrakhan, Vladikavkaz, Gelendzhik, Makhachkala, Magas, Mineralnye Vody, Nalchik, Stavropol, and Elista.

Due to these restrictions, dozens of flights have been canceled or delayed, leaving thousands of passengers stranded at airports. Rosaviatsia has issued warnings regarding the temporary restrictions to all crews and airlines.

The incident occurred on the eve of May 9, Victory Day. Earlier, Russia had announced a temporary ceasefire for the occasion, but Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that it would not be observed.

He also appealed to leaders of other countries, advising them not to visit Moscow on May 9 for security reasons. Following these warnings, it is reported that Russian special services have strengthened additional measures, particularly to ensure the safety of Vladimir Putin.

Authorities have not yet disclosed all details of the incident. However, experts emphasize that such drone incidents indicate rising tensions in the region.

It is currently unknown when flights will be fully restored. Passengers are advised to be patient and monitor updates through official sources.
