Geely acquires Ford plant in Spain

Major Chinese automaker Geely has reached an agreement with Ford to acquire the Ford Body 3 assembly line at the plant in Almussafes, Spain. This site will be transformed into a hub for the production of hybrid and fully electric vehicles in the future. This was reported by Ixbt.com reporting .
Once the plant is fully operational, annual production capacity is expected to exceed 300,000 units. The manufacturing process will be based on Geely's GEA intelligent architecture, a platform currently used successfully in the Geely Galaxy A7 and E5 models.
The project is internally codenamed "135" and is part of the company's strategy to expand its global electric vehicle lineup. According to preliminary data, the first model to roll off the plant's assembly line could be the compact electric crossover EX2.
The new crossover will be offered with two battery capacities — 30.1 and 40.1 kWh, providing a range of up to 310 and 410 kilometers respectively under the CLTC cycle. Ford is also considering the possibility of creating a new model based on this platform, including a successor to the Puma model.
