Uzbekistan’s spiritual heritage reached the final of the “New York Festivals”

The series of documentary films “Echo of Enlightenment,” implemented by the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan and created based on the authorship initiative of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has advanced to the final stage of the prestigious international film industry competition – New York Festivals TV & Film Awards 2026.
World-renowned actor and “Oscar” award winner Ben Kingsley also participated in the project. This additionally increased the quality of the film and its scientific-informational value.
At the final stage, the documentary film will compete for one of the bronze, silver, or gold category awards. The winners of the competition will be announced on May 21, 2026, during the Storytellers Gala awards ceremony.

The film extensively highlights the rich intellectual and spiritual heritage of the Islamic world through the enormous contributions of great scholars from Central Asia – Al-Khwarizmi, Al-Farghani, Ibn Sina, and other prominent figures – to the development of world civilization. In addition, the film provides an in-depth analysis of the legacy of the Timurid and Mughal eras, as well as other historical civilizations of the region, demonstrating their influence on the development of science, medicine, and philosophy in a scientific-popular approach.
The project’s materials were previously presented to an international audience and broadcast on leading television channels such as CNN, BBC, and Euronews, which further increased the global prestige of the project.
The New York Festivals TV & Film Awards international prize holds high prestige in the field of television and cinema, distinguished by its strict selection system, broad geographic participation, and high level of competition. Previously, projects created by leading media companies such as BBC, National Geographic, and Netflix received the highest evaluations within this award.

The Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan occupies an active position in the international scientific and cultural arena, consistently implementing projects based on the integration of academic research, modern technologies, and global media communications.
This film not only has scientific significance but also enhances the prestige of Uzbekistan in the international film industry and reflects the national cultural heritage.
