In Tashkent, the criminal case surrounding the “Guangzhou Medical of China” clinic has attracted significant public attention. According to court documents, Chinese citizens H.K. and H.F., who worked there as doctors, abused the trust of thousands of people by promising to cure patients with various medicines and acupuncture.
It is reported that from 2020 to 2022, they, operating in the Bektemir district, diagnosed patients of the “Guangzhou” clinic without conducting medical examinations. They claimed that different diseases could be cured, offering acupuncture and “Chinese medicine drugs.” In reality, they sold low-quality medicines at inflated prices and used the money for personal needs.
During the trial, it was revealed that only one victim, named G.Kh., lost more than 2.5 million soums. According to her, the doctor demanded 2.8 million soums for a “10-day treatment course,” then agreed to reduce it to 2.5 million soums. However, after three days of procedures, no positive result was observed, and the patient did not recover but instead suffered financial loss.
According to investigators, a total of 100 patients were deceived in this way, paying different amounts. Large sums of money were also seized from the accused.
61-year-old H.K. and his 31-year-old son H.F. were detained in Kazakhstan in 2024 and extradited to Uzbekistan. The Bektemir District Court found them guilty under Article 168 (fraud) and Article 186-3 (distribution of low-quality medicines) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
According to the court’s verdict, H.K. was fined 33,210,000 soums, and H.F. — 30,240,000 soums. Previously seized 381 million soums were directed to compensate the victims.
Experts emphasize that in recent years dubious individuals have become more active under the guise of “alternative medicine.” They exploit people’s trust and can cause serious harm to health. Therefore, citizens are strongly advised to turn only to officially licensed medical institutions.
